Boomerang Heaven

I’ve just had a boomin’ good Whitsun, and I hope you did too.

Sunday afternoon, ………perfectly blue sky,…………………… no-one else on my favourite throwing area – which is the size of about 6 rugby pitches, and then there is the Astroturf football pitch, the athletics running track etc – i.e. a pretty big area.

Looks good for MTA methinks….I lazily chuck my Manu MTA into the air and magically it takes off.

Within 5 seconds I could tell there was a thermal.

Within 10 seconds I was getting worried.

Within 30 seconds my boomerang had changed from the size of an MTA to the size of a sparrow !!

Bye-bye I thought.

It started to drift over the Astroturf and past the running track.

Bye-bye I thought.

Then……………….. as it started reaching the treeline it changed direction and started coming back in towards the field….

…………… and the sparrow became a blackbird…………….. and then a pigeon.

It was coming down in a controlled manner in a  5 metre strip between the running track and the hedge of the caretakers garden.

Thirty feet,……

…… come-on,

Twenty feet,……

 ……………..come-on,…….

……………………..Ten feet, ………………..I’m going to catch it!

Eight feet and it starts to spiral

Had the hedge not been in the way I would have caught it (honest I swear !)…..but at 5 minutes 17 seconds it was definitely my longest ever MTA throw.

I decided not to throw it again !
