Making a boomerang

If you really want to get into boomerangs you will probably have to start making them.

Why?

Well...

  • Its expensive to buy all the boomerangs you may want, but cheap to make them
  • Its fantastic fun to make your own boomerangs
  • Making boomerangs will help you understand how they work
  • You can swap your creations with other people's
  • You can improve on designs and get a boom to suit you
  • You can easily make some fabulous flying boomerangs, that look better and fly better than 95% of all the 'normal' ones you can buy in shops.

Some tips:You don't need many special tools, but an electirc jig saw is reccomended. When you start you may well think "bigger is better" and make huge boomerangs, but you will not get any greater range and they will hurt if they hit you. Most successful boomerang designs can be drawn on a single sheet of A4 paper - even ones that go over 200m!
